On January 26, 2025, our dear friend Nini passed away suddenly and unexpectedly due to a heart attack. His loss is absolutely devastating to his family, his friends, and his community in Cambodia and around the world.

If you had the joy of knowing Nini, you know what a wonderful person he was. His infectious smile, his kindness, and his playful, joyful presence made every interaction with him special. He was a pillar of his community—someone who genuinely cared for people and lifted up everyone around him.

A Loving Husband, A Devoted Father, A Passionate Host

Nini leaves behind his wife and six beloved children, ranging in age from 8 to 25. Nini was deeply dedicated to his family, working tirelessly to create opportunities for his children and secure a better future for them. His sudden passing has left his family in deep shock, struggling to process the immense and sudden loss of their father and husband. On top of their grief, they are now facing an overwhelming financial crisis. With Nini gone, they have lost not only the emotional anchor of their family but also their sole provider, leaving them in an urgent struggle to survive and make ends meet.

Nini was the heart and soul of Sweet Dreams Guest House in Siem Reap—a small, welcoming place for travelers that he built from the ground up. Having a guesthouse was his big life dream, and he worked tirelessly to keep it running, even through the struggles of the pandemic and the shifting tourism landscape in Siem Reap. Nini’s passion was to create a space where people from around the world could feel at home and truly welcomed, and he did exactly that—with big smiles, laughter, and endless dedication.

With Nini’s passing, his family is now left without the income and expertise to keep the guesthouse running, especially while they’re in a state of shock and grief. They have no savings, no financial safety net whatsoever, no way to cover school costs for the younger children, and no way for his two sons in university to continue their education.
