Support Nina Nguyen’s Fight Against Cancer
Donation protected
On Wednesday, March 27th just shy of 7:00pm, our dear friend Nina received a call that no woman ever wants to receive. The results of her cervical biopsy had come in and revealed that the mass her doctor had found just one day earlier was a fast growing cancer.
Although stunned and in shock, having been with a client when she received the call, Nina attempted to finish the client’s appointment before even telling her family the news. After some persistent urging from the client, Nina reluctantly agreed to wrap up the appointment so that she could inform her family of the news she had just received.
For those of you who know Nina, and the Nguyen family, you know how close they are and how strong their faith is. Upon leaving the salon, Nina headed straight to the church where she was met by Mom, Evan, her two sons, Jayden and Mason, and several other family members and friends. The family prayed together in unison, despite the church choir rehearsing for their Easter performance in the sanctuary, and even long after the rehearsal had ended for the evening.
Since that evening, the family has refused to let negative energy infiltrate their thoughts and prayers. When the fear and uncertainty starts to creep up they pray, listen to worship music ,and most of all lean on each other for support.
On Wednesday, April 3rd, Nina was seen by an oncologist in Pensacola. She was told that she has Stage 1b2 cervical cancer. The doctor seemed optimistic about surgery and pending a CT scan on Thursday, April 11th, Nina will have a radical hysterectomy on Wednesday, April 17th.
Only time will tell what Nina’s treatment/recovery will entail after her surgery. But for someone with a strong work ethic like Nina, time away from the salon and her clients is not a luxury she often partakes in. Other than Sundays, Christmas, and the occasional family vacation, Nina can always be found at the salon, in her room, doing her thing.
My hope is that our little family community can come together to support Nina and all but “force” her to not rush her recovery and take the appropriate time needed for her well being. By providing some monetary support, I pray that we can help ease the stresses that come to a hard worker that is used to being at work.
It is my goal to let Nina know that her family extends well beyond just the Nguyens, into and throughout the entire community of Destin. There is no amount donated that is too small. If you are unable to donate monetarily please consider adding Nina to your prayer requests! She has told me she can feel the prayers lifting her up. May God continue to be there for her through the days and weeks ahead.
