Our sweet Nimbus was just in the hospital for the second time since being diagnosed with chronic kidney disease last winter at just 8 years old. It was a long journey to get him stable since his previous hospitalization in January 2025. With extensive veterinary care and a specialized diet, Nimbus was thriving until he developed an unexpected bout of constipation and dehydration due to his illness. His only chance of pulling through was, once again, hospitalization.
We were hopeful that emergency care would get him through this, but sadly, that has not been the case, even after him being inpatient for 24 hours. We have been diligently following all the prescribed aftercare, which has included administering 4 medications and IV subcutaneous fluids; However, his constipation persists. After reaching out to the hospital this morning, we decided it would be best to take him back to the vet today. It became clear from this visit that he will need continued care to get him through this and become healthy again.
Nimbus is the sweetest boy and he loves nothing more than curling up in a warm lap, soaking up sunlight atop his favorite chair, and cuddling with all of us. He came to us with his brother Tiberius as a stray 4-week-old kitten, and his gentle spirit since day one has been such a comfort to our family. We’re doing everything we can to get him healthy and back to enjoying life again. Our home is truly is not the same without the endless love that he shares with all of us and with everyone that he meets.
We’ve done everything we can to keep up with the thousands in veterinary expenses over the past year, which has exceeded $10,000, without counting his prescription food and medications. His recent hospital stay, on top of six veterinary visits in just the two past weeks, has brought difficult and unexpected additional costs. Any support would mean so much to us, even if it’s simply sharing this!
Thank you so much for caring about our sweet boy, please keep him in your thoughts!
