Support Nila's Fight Against Epilepsy & Brain Surgery

Dear Family and Friends:

The time has come to humbly ask for your support.

Nila was officially diagnosed with refractory left temporal lobe epilepsy in the beginning of 2023.

Since then, she’s endured hundreds of life-threatening seizures. Despite failing over 6 different medications and currently relying on 3 anti-convulsants, Nila's seizures remain uncontrolled.

These relentless attacks have robbed her of her independence, her ability to work, and her quality of life.

Nila also experiences severe migraines and cluster headaches daily, exacerbated by debilitating medication side effects, including severe double vision and frequent nausea and vomiting.

Early this year, we discovered the probable root cause of Nila's epilepsy: a rare brain lesion.

This finding qualified her for brain surgery, leading to a series of rigorous tests and procedures to assess the risks of removing the lesion.

Unfortunately, the lesion's location in a language and memory dominant area of her brain made a full resection too dangerous.

As a result, her medical team opted for a more conservative approach: a smaller resection combined with the implantation of an RNS device.

Nila’s future is bright, but she needs our help to get there.

As she prepares for brain surgery, she faces immense financial strain.

Unable to work and having burnt through her savings, she’s relying on the support of her loved ones. She does not have the means to support her most basic essential needs like food, rent and medical transportation.

While she’s pursuing Social Security Disability, the process is lengthy and could take up to a year or longer.
