Support Nilam's Family in Their Time of Need

Hello friends,

We’re reaching out to you on behalf of Nilam, whose life and the life of her family was turned upside down for doing the right thing and standing up for others.

Nilam and her family are currently living in Bangkok, Thailand as asylum seekers, fleeing religious persecution and threats to their lives. They urgently need your help to stay safe, provide for their children, and work toward a future where they are free from fear.

Nilam's husband was born and raised in Quetta, Pakistan. A Christian in a Muslim-majority region, he worked hard to support his wife Nilam and their four beautiful children:

From 2014–2018, her husband served as a Minority Councilor in the Local Government, advocating for the Christian community and leading social work initiatives. His passion for service and uplifting others made him a respected figure—but it also made him a target.

In 2018, he became involved with a local business that sold motorcycles. Many of his friends and relatives, trusting him, also invested. But the company suddenly collapsed. Without warning, her husband was blamed, despite having no control over the situation.

Then came the threats—violent, religiously motivated, and terrifying.

One night in May 2019, her husband received a call accusing him of insulting Islam—an allegation that in Pakistan can lead to mob violence or even death, often without evidence or trial. Hours later, armed men came looking for him. Police refused to help. He and his family were forced to flee their home overnight.

For months they lived in hiding, moving from city to city, sleeping wherever they could. With no support and nowhere safe, her husband left for Dubai in 2020 to find work and send money back. While he was gone, his wife gave birth to their fourth child. He worked hard to reunite them, but due to immigration bans, their visas were denied.

In 2022, desperate and still in danger, her husband made the hardest decision of his life: he gathered what little money he had left and brought his entire family to Thailand.
