Support Nikole's Battle Against Cancer

Donation protected
Nikole Smith was diagnosed Easter Sunday, April 20th, 2025, with metastatic breast cancer. She was diagnosed in 2017 with Stage 3 Breast cancer and was treated with radiation and chemotherapy and was in remission until Easter of this year. She never missed an appointment and was always terrified that her cancer would come back and it did with vengeance. The cancer had spread from her breast to multiple areas on her spine, and hip. Nikole is the life of the party, always willing to help anyone in need. She loves her kids, Bradley, 25, Brady, 22, and Rylee, 8. Her kids are her life. She has several nieces and nephews that love their KiKi.

At the beginning of 2024, she began having back pain that she thought was just a pulled muscle or a disc out of place. She began going to a chiropractor and he would pop her and put her back in alignment, until Easter Sunday she wasn’t able to get out of her bed. She was taken to St Francis in Monroe, La where she was diagnosed with metastatic bone cancer. She was treated for her pain until she able to be transferred to her Oncologist that had treated her Breast Cancer in 2017. She stayed in the hospital at LSU for about a week and had multiple tests done while she was there. She couldn’t secure an appointment for radiation or chemo while she was there and was released feeling like nobody cared. Finally, after several weeks, she was able to get an appointment to begin her therapy but once again, another obstacle got in the way, INSURANCE. This setback led to yet another disappointment. Finally, about a month after her initial diagnosis she was able to start her therapy. It took a few weeks, and she started feeling a little better and then six weeks later she was able to return to work. Nikole couldn’t work full-time, and this put a financial strain on her. She is a single mom with an 8-year-old little girl.

On Nikole’s last visit she felt like her doctors weren’t doing all that they could, and this has devasted her to the point she is ready to give up, but she reached out to her sister to help get her into MD Anderson; she now has an appointment for 9/4. MD called her less than 24 hours later and went over the possible financial burdens that she would have. Nikole will have to pay out of pocket to have someone from MD read all her test results. She had multiple CTs, Mri’s, x-rays, etc. and the cost could range from $250-3k for each test to be read. Nikki deserves a second opinion and getting this from the #1 Cancer Center in the Nation would help ensure that Nikki could watch her 8-year-old little girl grow up. Nikki will have expenses that she will not be able to take care of on her own and will need the help of anyone that is able. I know times are tough and everyone has financial burdens of their own, but I pray that you can find it in your heart to give.
