We’re raising money for our dear friend, Nikki! She’s recently been hospitalized to be treated for sepsis after being sent home multiple times for an ongoing medical issue. Nikki is expected to be in the hospital for the remainder of the week and is hoping to have surgery as soon as her white blood cells are under control. She’s expected to be out of work for 3-6 weeks which will cause a huge stress for her as she’s unable to work. Nikki is a single mom of 2 wonderful children and deserves to spend time taking care of her health and recovery without worrying about paying the bills. Cash donations are being accepted at Sting Rays Seafood on Tybee Island (inside at the bar) or to Magen Grooms. Read below for more information.
Nikki is suffering from an infection caused by an IUD issue as well as the recently discovery of a hemorrhagic cyst on her ovary. An IUD was thought to have been removed years ago during a procedure but it was not. After suffering from pain over the years, it got the best of her to the point where she was rushed to the emergency room and basically sent home with antibiotics. After being sent home she did go have a procedure done to remove the long over due IUD only to find out a piece of it broke off internally. She was sent home with the broken piece still in place. She experienced pain yet again and went back to the ER only to be told she had a UTI and was sent home with pain meds & and optional antibiotic. Fast forward to the other night… Nikki ended up back in the ER with worsening pain and a consistent fever. They took her back immediately and after doing blood testing they started treating her for sepsis. She is currently still in the ER awaiting more info but is expected to have surgery in the next few days and have more testing. That being said, she will be out of work for some time. The length of time will depend on what kind of surgery they do to remove what needs to be removed. We appreciate any donation you can make as this will help relieve the burden of rent, bills & taking care of her children.
