Help Support Nikki on Her Journey to a Kidney Transplant
Katie and I are reaching out with humble hearts to ask for your support for our sister, Nikki, as she faces one of the toughest battles of her life. Nikki has been diagnosed with end-stage kidney disease, and her GFR has dropped to 12, meaning her kidneys are functioning at less than 12% of what they should. She is now preparing for a lifesaving kidney transplant.
She will be starting dialysis in the next two weeks to keep her kidneys functioning until we can find a donor. Dialysis should help ease many of the symptoms she’s been experiencing. She has been tired, sore, and just overall not feeling well, but even through all of that, she remains fierce, fearless, and unbelievably strong. Her fighting spirit shows up every single day, and it inspires all of us who love her.
If you know Nikki, you know her strength, her humor, and her heart. She is the kind of person who shows up for everyone else. Now it’s our turn to show up for her.
Why We’re Raising Funds
A kidney transplant is not just a major medical journey it’s a life-changing financial one, too. Your donations will help cover:
• Medical expenses not fully covered by insurance
• Travel costs for appointments, evaluations, and surgery
• Medication and recovery needs, which can be extremely expensive
• Support for her family during this difficult time
Nikki has been fighting to stay strong while managing fatigue, nausea, constant doctor visits, and the daily realities of having a GFR this low. Yet she continues to hold onto hope.
How You Can Help
Any contribution big or small will make a real difference. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this page, saying a prayer, or sending words of encouragement. Every gesture matters.
We have also started a caring bridge to keep everyone up to date on the status of her journey. It can be found here —> https://www.caringbridge.org/site/64adfcf2-8e36-11f0-a29e-4b37796040b0?utm_source=website_share&utm_medium=share_button&utm_term=&utm_content=link_share_button&utm_campaign=private_home_page
We expect to know much more about the transplant process and timeline in late December, and we’re hopeful as we look ahead to 2026. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us surround Nikki with the love, strength, and support she needs as she moves toward transplant and healing.
We are deeply grateful.
❤️ Erin & Katie (The Eckroate Girls)
