Just one week ago, my sister Nikki’s cat, Daisy, was completely healthy, happy, and full of life. Nikki adopted Daisy when she was just 7 months old, and ever since then, she has been such an important part of our family. Daisy is incredibly independent, but fiercely loyal to Nikki — always by her side through life’s ups and downs.
In less than a week, Daisy’s health has rapidly declined, leaving Nikki emotionally devastated and financially overwhelmed.
To make matters even more heartbreaking, only a year and a half ago Nikki lost her 3-year-old cat, Dexter, to a sudden heart condition that took his life just two weeks after his diagnosis. Now she is facing another terrifying and painful situation.
On Wednesday, 5/6, Daisy suddenly stopped eating and drinking and began wobbling when she tried to walk. By the next day, the wobbling had gotten much worse, and Daisy could barely stand on her own. Nikki rushed her to the vet, where bloodwork surprisingly came back normal. She was sent home and told to monitor her closely.
By Friday, Daisy had completely lost the ability to walk and still refused food and water. Later that evening, Daisy began suffering from severe seizures, and Nikki rushed her to the emergency vet. After numerous tests, the doctors believed this could be a serious neurological issue. Unfortunately, they did not have a neurologist on staff, so Nikki was sent home again with instructions to return immediately if the seizures continued.
Almost as soon as Nikki got home, the seizures started again. Daisy was rushed back to the emergency vet, where they contacted another emergency hospital in the area with a neurologist on staff and told Nikki to bring Daisy there immediately.
Nikki spent the entire night at the emergency hospital while Daisy’s condition continued to worsen. At this point, the neurologist believed Daisy may be suffering from a brain tumor, cancer, or a severe infectious disease. She was discharged after 48 with 6 medications to keep the seizures at bay, but there is still a serious issue with her brain that will require further testing. Daisy is home but unable to be alone, still cannot walk without wobbling and falling and has lost most of her vision.
We are still searching for answers and doing everything possible to help Daisy fight through this. The emotional and financial toll has been overwhelming, and any donation, share, or support would mean the world to Nikki and our family. Every donation will go straight towards Daisy's current medical bills and the mounting medical bills that are still to come.
Thank you for helping us fight for Daisy.
