Hi, my name is Nikki Tardif, and I am a senior here at Roaring Fork High School. To graduate at the end of the year, I need to complete a project that involves some community service. I have decided to redesign the walls of the gym by adding new features, such as establishing a sponsors wall that is thoughtfully organized together, purchasing a larger American flag and “ram strong” flag for each side of the gym, moving and building a new frame for the Brenda Patch jersey and designating the “visitor” and “home” sections by purchasing larger more visible and durable posters and hanging them appropriately above the bleachers. I also plan to design matching grade-level posters for activities such as Spirit Week and community meetings, and purchase a state soccer banner that matches past state banners to display alongside them. My final product will hopefully be a nicer, more inviting gym that makes not only our visitors but our fans think “wow, we have a well put together gym”. I have chosen this project because I have not only been a 3-sport varsity athlete my whole high school career, but I also grew up in the Roaring Fork gym. With both my grandparents working and coaching, I have spent more time in that gym than most ever will. This project means a lot to me because my life revolves around sports, and I know many of my underclassmen can say the same, so creating a space to enjoy that time on or off the court will be more than just a community service. If I have leftover donated money, I plan to purchase new mats for under the basketball hoops that match the new blue color that is all throughout the gym, and possibly new chairs that also match the new blue color. If that does not plan out like I would like it to, the money will be split up and given to all of Roaring Fork's sports teams. Thank you so much for your support. I could not complete this project without your help!
