Support Nikki & Nia ✨

Hello there, meows. Most of you already know who I am. My name’s Nikki and I have a 10 year old daughter named Nia who’s on the spectrum for autism. We’ve been struggling financially for quite some time and unfortunately I find myself in the position to have to ask for help.

I’m currently waiting for (hopefully) approval from SSI for much needed benefits for Nia. I hope to hear from them by June. They told me back in January when I was finally able to apply that the process takes 3 to 6 months. Because of my situation and being the only caretaker for her, I’m unable to work a “normal” job nor do I have any friends or relatives that can assist me with her. My only source of income has been some freelance catering and my e-commerce store selling spices. With everything going on with the economy, sales haven’t been that great and I’m facing having to give up on my business and website because I simply can’t afford the monthly fees to maintain them. I’ve hesitated doing this for so long out of embarrassment and I guess, shame. But I don’t know what else to do and the constant stress is taking its toll on my own health and well being.

I have whittled everything down to the bare necessities, sold everything I could sell, and used up all of my savings to keep our heads above water. On a brighter note, I do have a potential job where I can take Nia on site with me later in the year, and am currently looking for a literary agent to help me get my cookbook off the ground and published. We just need to survive until then. Having a child with special needs requires a lot. So many particulars. I feel like I’m failing her as a mom, even though I’m trying my best to provide her with the things she needs. This isn’t easy for me to do since I’ve always worked and earned my own money. But we really do need some help to see us through. If you could find it in your hearts to contribute in any way, it would be greatly appreciated and never forgotten. Anything helps.
