Our Story

Dear Family, Friends, and Community,

Our lives changed overnight when our 16-year-old son, Nikhil, was suddenly diagnosed with acute leukemia. What started as a medical emergency quickly turned into an intensive, round-the-clock battle at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.

Nikhil is a bright, kind, and resilient young man who loves his family and has so much of his life ahead of him. Just recently, Nikhil and his software engineering team earned 1st place and were named national champions at the 2026 Business Professionals of America (BPA) National Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. He has incredible drive, talent, and passion, but this aggressive blood cancer has forced him into the toughest fight of his life.

The Journey So Far

Since his diagnosis, Nikhil’s medical journey has been filled with immense hurdles. He has had to face:

* Extremely high white blood cell counts requiring urgent, aggressive cytoreduction therapy.

* A severe battle with pneumonia, complicating his lung function and respiratory health while his immune system is compromised.

* Intensive bone marrow evaluations, frequent blood draws, lumbar punctures, and complex chemotherapy protocols.

* Managing severe treatment side effects, including sudden blood sugar spikes from essential steroid medications and complications involving his spleen.

The Treatment Road Ahead

Our doctors have outlined a comprehensive, multi-phase treatment plan tailored to give Nikhil the best possible chance at a permanent cure:

* Phase 1: Remission Induction (The First 28 Days): An intensive initial block of rapid chemotherapy designed to clear leukemia cells from the bone marrow. This phase requires frequent or continuous hospital stays (often 2 to 4 weeks per month) to manage low blood counts, strong medications, and active complications like pneumonia.

* Phase 2: Consolidation / Intensification (Several Months): Strong cycles of high-dose drug combinations to deepen remission and prevent relapse. This phase involves intermittent short hospital stays of a few days per month.

* Phase 3: Interim Maintenance & Delayed Intensification (Several Months): Alternating therapy blocks and central nervous system (spinal fluid) protection, mostly handled outpatient with occasional short monitoring stays.

* Phase 4: Long-Term Maintenance (Extending to 2.5–3 Years Total): A 100% outpatient phase consisting of low-dose daily and weekly oral chemotherapy taken at home, alongside regular clinic check-ups.

Why We Need Your Support

As any parent can imagine, watching your child fight for his life is the hardest thing imaginable. Navigating this long-term medical crisis also brings an overwhelming financial burden. Even with insurance, the out-of-pocket costs for specialized pediatric cancer treatments, intensive hospital stays, critical care medications, specialized monitoring, and travel expenses are mounting rapidly.

We have set a fundraising goal to help cover:

* Specialized medical bills, inpatient stays during intensive treatment phases, and procedures.

* Essential prescriptions and supportive care medications not fully covered by insurance.

* Daily living, travel, and logistical expenses as we stay by Nikhil's side at the hospital throughout his multi-year journey.
