Help Nika Bury Her Baby and Say Goodbye to Her Grandmother
Nika just lost two of the most important people in her life. And she can't afford to bury one of them.
Imagine losing your child. Now imagine losing your grandmother the next day. Now imagine being told you have to choose between burying your baby or keeping the lights on for your other kids.
That's where Nika is right now. And she needs us today.
Please give what you can. Share this everywhere. Be the miracle this mama needs right now.
What Happened
Nika's 17 month-old son Jamari (who everyone called Juice) recently passed away. Days later, her grandmother died. Nika is drowning in grief and bills she can't pay. She's in Arkansas, far from family. Her grandmother was her support system. Now she's gone.
Insurance covers almost nothing. Nika wasn't working because Jamari needed round-the-clock care. The funeral home needs payment. Her landlord needs rent. Her kids need to eat. And she needs to get to Chicago for her grandmother's memorial service.
She shouldn't have to choose. But right now, she does.
Jamari's Story
Jamari was born three months early. Nika's blood pressure was so high that day, they both almost died. But they didn't. God held them both here.
Jamari spent 13 months in the NICU. He had a shunt in his brain. Breathing tubes. Multiple surgeries. He was medically complex, fighting every single day.
And Nika fought right alongside him. She fought to bring him home. Fought to let him meet his brothers and sister. Fought to give him a life outside hospital walls.
She won that fight. She got her baby home.
But Jamari was so tired. His little warrior heart had fought as long as it could.
What Nika Needs Right Now
We're raising funds to cover:
- Jamari's funeral and burial (insurance covers almost nothing)
- Travel to Chicago and back for her grandmother's memorial
- Rent, utilities, and food while she grieves and figures out her next steps.
- Ongoing support as she rebuilds her life without Jamari's disability support and navigates finding work while caring for her other children
Nika wasn't working because Jamari required full-time care. Now she's lost that routine, lost her baby, and still can't immediately return to work while grieving and caring for her other kids. The financial need doesn't end with the funeral. It's going to take time for her to get back on her feet.
These funds mean Nika can bury her son with dignity. They mean she can say goodbye to her grandmother. They mean her other children don't go hungry while their mama falls apart. They mean she has breathing room to heal before she has to figure out what comes next.
Every dollar gets her closer to breathing again. If you're able to give monthly, even $10 or $20 a month, that consistent support will help Nika stay afloat while she heals and rebuilds.
How You Can Help
1. Donate anything you can. One time or monthly. $10, $25, $50. It all adds up. Be one of the donors who helps us hit this goal.
2. Share this fundraiser. Post it on Facebook. Send it in your group chats. Tag people who have big hearts. The more people who see this, the faster we get Nika the help she needs.
3. Keep sharing. Tomorrow. The next day. Don't let this disappear. Nika doesn't have time to wait for the algorithm to be kind.
The Bottom Line
Nika spent 13 months keeping her baby alive. She deserves to bury him without panic. She deserves to grieve without choosing between rent and food. She deserves a village.
Let's be that village.
No mother should bury her baby alone. No family should face this kind of loss without support. Please give today. Please share today.
This can't wait.
