Our family in Burnt Savanna, Jamaica, was completely devastated by Hurricane Melissa, and no aid has reached them yet. Nigel’s mom lost her roof, and the family farm, which is her and his sister Betsy’s livelihood. All the breadfruit and banana trees, livestock, and the chicken coop are gone.

Leonard, his brother, lost his roof on his home as well. The heavy rains have damaged the inside of both homes, and the family is now all living together in Latoya’s small concrete house until repairs can be made.

Right now, there is no electricity, water, or food, and the roads are impassable, leaving the community completely isolated.

Funds raised will go toward food and basic supplies, repairing roofs, rebuilding the chicken coop, replanting trees and crops, and purchasing new livestock. We also hope to rebuild the homes to better withstand future hurricanes, which are becoming increasingly frequent.

Any additional funds will support neighbors in Burnt Savanna who have also lost everything.
