Nida came from Lithuania to Belgium to support her friend Esila, as they planned to attend a meeting with KASK together.
Tragically, on the very day she began preparing for the meeting, Nida suffered a serious accident. On the morning of the scheduled appointment, she fell down the stairs and sustained a severe neck injury. She experienced spinal trauma, torn ligaments, internal bleeding, and the dislocation of two vertebrae.
She underwent a highly complex and risky surgery. Initially, doctors stated that the chances of permanent paralysis were greater than her chances of survival or recovery.
Thankfully, Nida made it through the operation and has now begun her long journey toward healing.
However, we were informed by the hospital that SGK (the Turkish Social Security Institution) does not cover her post-operative treatment.
Nida now faces significant medical expenses, including:
Miami J collar
Soft neck brace
Post-operative check-ups and follow-up X-rays
A structured physiotherapy program
Mobility aids and ergonomic support tools
Future surgery on the C5-C6 vertebrae, which had to be left unoperated during the initial procedure due to her young age 24 and associated risks
