Support Nicole's Recovery After Stroke

Dear friends and family,

UPDATE as of Wednesday the 28th from Nicoles husband Nick.

Monday

When I was talking to Nicole she OPENED HER EYES and looked around for a brief moment then went back to sleep. Nicoles mom Dianne had the same thing happen on a separate visit. Nicole is trying to wake up we think. Though they have her on pretty strong medication because of the breathing tube, too uncomfortable. They will try removing it tomorrow once that happens they will significantly dial back the pain killers. They keep pushing it off because the want to be sure they won't have to put it back in.

Tuesday

Nicole opened her eyes and recognized her mother and I smiled then went back to sleep. The breathing tube stayed in today. They are hoping tomorrow she will be strong enough to have it removed. Another day of rest for Nicole.

Wednesday

Another good day of rest for Nicole. They removed her breathing tube and she is now breathing on her own. We believe Because of medication she is in and out of consciousness. Her swelling has gone down significantly to the point where she looks normal now. She is still unable to talk because her throat is healing from the breathing tube.

Our niece Nicole and her family are in need of help. She gave birth to a beautiful baby girl a few weeks ago. Everything was fine until two days later when she suffered a major stroke. She was taken to two different hospitals before being sent to Harborview where she remains in ICU.

Nicole underwent a 4-hour operation (removing part of her skull to try and relieve the swelling). Then, she had to have another operation because the stint that was put in to help reduce the swelling broke off.

Nicole is now in an isolation room in ICU because she is now fighting an infection that they are trying to figure out what type of infection it is.

Nicole is nothing but white light and energy. This is going to be a very long road ahead for her, her husband, and their brand new baby Lily.
