Hello everyone, my name is Josh and this is for my sister Nicole who is battling the worst of the worst. How this started as a ‘Fatty Tumor’ I felt under my ribcage in late December per my primary doctor and him wanting to get it aspirated in December of 2023. After I said no, I fought to get an ultrasound and they only found gallstones somehow. This led to getting my gallbladder removed in January 2024 and the surgeon taking a biopsy of a mass that he found on my liver to only find out on a Friday night that it was bile duct cancer where I was feeling the mass.
I called my mother immediately after reading the lab report; she, my dad, and brother were just getting home from dinner. I remember this call vividly. It was tough for my family to hear, especially coming from me, with me being overly emotional all the time. Some family members I had my parents tell because I just couldn’t anymore.
When diagnosed, I went through chemotherapy, radiation, and a liver resection with no guarantee of surviving with 47% of my liver. After the surgery, I then took a chemo tablet for 6 months to help clear my bloodstream. After this, I was placed in remission which was in June of 2025. Unfortunately, it did not stay away for long as in December of 2025 I found out I was no longer in remission.
It had come back in my spine in the L3 vertebra. In January and February of this year, 2026, I had quite a bit done. I had a biopsy, ablation, and cement block placed in my spine for stabilization. After this, I had a spinal tap done with the CT and they decided to do a spinal fusion. But it did not take care of it all and I underwent Cyberknife radiation which is similar to normal radiation except they are stronger beams and I had to lay there for an hour each session. There were 5 sessions. On the CT from the spinal tap, they found another spot on my hip/pubic bone that has been causing me pain to walk on my right leg. They also gave me radiation for my hip but it is still painful as it has not cleared my system as of yet. I am still having pain flares.
After the radiation side effects wear off, my oncologist plans for me to go through chemo once again as well as taking an immunotherapy tablet. Please help us as we are struggling to do life with the burden of my having cancer that has a 2-3% rate of living after 5 years.
The funds will go towards life's bills: housing, food, traveling to Hopkins and back, electric, car, gas, anything to help my spouse and I get through this chapter in our lives. Anything you can do to help in supporting us we will be grateful for. Even if it is just prayers and good thoughts.
