Hi, my name is Nicole, and this is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to ask.
My family and I have been hugely impacted by the winter storm that hit this past weekend. The severe ice storm that hit our area and changed everything.
The storm has taken our home from us. The storm caused widespread damage and left us without power, with no clear timeline for restoration as crews work through the area. Ice buildup and storm-related damage led to major system failures in our camper and kit, destroying essential equipment and making our living situation unsafe and unstable. Without electricity and with critical systems damaged, we are unable to safely stay where we are.
What little progress we had fought so hard to maintain was taken from us in a matter of days.
On top of this, we have been caring for a wild/stray dog that has been living nearby. We’ve been personally paying for food and making repeated attempts to humanely catch the dog so it can receive proper care and safety. Despite our efforts, we haven’t been successful yet—but we couldn’t turn our backs on an animal that had no one else. While we don’t regret helping, it has added to the financial strain during an already devastating time.
Right now, we are trying to rebuild while waiting for power crews to reach us and assess the damage.
We are asking for help to cover:
• Temporary shelter and basic necessities while we remain without power
• Continued humane care and capture efforts for the stray dog
• Costs to help us stabilize and begin moving forward again
This isn’t easy for us. We are hard-working, resilient people who believe in handling our own responsibilities—but sometimes circumstances overwhelm even the strongest plans. This ice storm took away our stability, and we cannot recover on our own.
