Hi, I'm grateful for you and your time. My name is Nicole Armendariz and life has taken quite the turn the last few years. I loved school all the way through college. I've always tried to make the right choices. I got married to my perfect other half in June of 2021. It was an amazing day!!! To continue with our lives, I quit taking my birth control in July 2021, ended up hospitalized September, October, and November. Saw the gyno in December did my normal tests, and was diagnosed with, at the time, stage 2 cervical cancer in January 2022. Yes, all less then a year. I got right to work trying to beat this cancer, and because things did not go as planned, I ended up having a hysterectomy in April 2022. I am so lucky; I gave TJ the opportunity to go find a girl who could give him kids, but he refused to go, and is still next to me today. At the hysterectomy, they then reclassified me as stage 4, as the cancer traveled from my cervix to my tubes, ovaries, and my bladder. To finish 2022, I then had my bladder removed and replaced, having to use medical supplies for the rest of my life. I was considered in remission for most of 2023. The return in January of 2024. I got right back into the cancer center to try to get that under control, which we did so by June 2024, when I was considered stable. My October 2024 pet scan said stable, but unfortunately January 2025 not as stable.
I am grateful that everything is still localized to my pelvic area, but the doctors decided on this new treatment. I've had 1 treatment, and it was a rough week. I did end up in the ER due to treatment one this week, but I'm not sure what to be prepared for I the coming treatments. I am the first and only in my cancer center on this treatment, and it is so different then before. I have to visit the eye doctor before each transfusion, as the meds could cause me to go blind. I am not in contacts because of this treatment, so I had to get 2 pairs of glasses to survive in Colorado. Yes, I have vision and medical insurance, but things add up fast and insurance only covers certain things.
I'm still trying to work full time during this, as well as TJ. My parents are my heros with most of this, as Mom is being 1 of 2 main care takers. The money raised here would go to help with medical bills, supplies, and groceries as I am finding it hard to eat. I really do appreciate all those who have already helped, as well as those who would like to help more! Love you all.
