Support Nicole Stoll's Liver Transplant Journey

Donation protected
Hello friends and family – I am updating the description and bio with the latest information on my sister, Nicole (Nikki) Stoll. Many of you may have known her by her maiden name, Nikki Ford. She has hereditary end-stage liver disease and needs a liver transplant as soon as possible. WE NEED YOUR HELP SHARING THIS MESSAGE. She’s only 42 years old and has so much more life to live. She lives and breathes for her son, and this news has consumed her with worry over his well-being and future if we don’t figure this out. Even the thought of leaving him in this world without her is simply too much for her to handle. It has been heartbreaking to watch her go through all of this, and I’m doing everything in my power to help. I am currently in the testing phase to see if I qualify as a liver donor. Please help us support her and our family through this journey. So far, the outpouring of support has been unbelievably generous, and we need to keep up the momentum to limit the strain as much as possible.

She is unable to work because of the situation and her health, and that has proven to be financially unsustainable with only one income. The out-of-pocket costs for her are astronomical, and mine will be as well if I qualify. Insurance considers my potential donation an elective procedure, so it won’t be covered. She and I are also financially responsible for the ongoing care of our mother who has late-stage dementia. It is all adding up and they are quickly falling behind. Your support, generosity, and kindness go a long way, and we are very transparent on when and how the funds are being used. They are not going directly to the Stoll family; they are going to a family member (financial specialist offering services free of charge) who is helping to disburse funds as needed to keep their heads above water. It is too much for her to handle right now as she has always managed their families’ finances.
We sincerely appreciate all your thoughts and prayers. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. If you are unable to support her financially, please keep her in your thoughts. Support absolutely comes in more ways than just dollar bills. Please also let us know if you are someone you know is interested in being tested for qualified donation. Many people have offered, but unfortunately, we haven’t found the match yet.

How We Got Here

In late July Nikki was unexpectedly admitted to the hospital for a collapsed lung. She received excellent medical treatment from the staff at HCA, but ultimately, once they determined the root cause of the issue, it was not great news. She has end-stage liver disease and needs a liver transplant as soon as possible. She was released after 12 days due to complications with the drain in her lung and the resulting infection. She is receiving top-notch outpatient care from the liver specialists at VCU Health, Pulmonary Associates of Richmond, and many more excellent physicians in charge of managing her care…. especially her AMAZING liver transplant doctor at VCU Health who is helping us get through this together.

The main problem still becomes this – bills keep rolling in, and there isn’t enough to cover everything. The coming months are only going to get harder with the number of appointments, testing, and travel expenses (for me, I must do most of my testing in Virginia and my family lives in Florida). This Go Fund Me was set up to assist the Stoll family, and any funds donated will be used to assist with their overall finances. If I am an approved donor, I will update the Go Fund Me with my expense information for full transparency.

Thank you again for everything!
