My name is Nicolas Elumen and I am raising funds to attend the 2026 Guardian Warrior Intensive training at the Teaching Drum Outdoor School.

A CALL FROM THE HEART

For as long as I can remember—nearly 18 years—I have carried a quiet but persistent longing to train at the Teaching Drum Outdoor School. This calling has never left me. It has waited patiently for the moment when I was ready to listen with my whole heart.

That moment is now.

In 2026, I have the opportunity to enter the Guardian Training, The training is 270 days total which is part online and in the wilderness. The journey will ask everything of me—my courage, my humility, my presence. For part of the training I will spend 70 days with my pack alone in the woods, facing the very fears that have shaped me: darkness, discomfort, and time away from my family.

I do not take this lightly.

I am a husband. A father. A man devoted to becoming someone my family can lean on with trust and pride. This training is not an escape from them—it is an offering to them. While I am away from my family, they will be held in safety and support here at the Teaching Drum School where we live, surrounded by care and meaningful engagement. I step into the unknown so I can return more grounded, more awake, and more capable of serving those I love.

I don’t know exactly who I will be when this journey is complete. What I do know is that my heart will be fuller, my spirit stronger, and my capacity to be a light in this world more deeply rooted.
