In November, life of Cirpala family was turned upside down when Nicolai—a devoted father of two and a loving husband—was diagnosed with metastatic poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma of the caecum. The news was devastating, and they were met with the heartbreaking reality that local doctors have given him minimal chances of survival. By December, Nicolai had undergone an intensive round of treatment that took a severe physical toll, leaving him unable to stand, work, or care for his family.

As Nicolai fights for every moment, his wife, Elena, has taken on the weight of being a full-time caregiver for both her husband and their two young boys.
