Update: Nicky is now home from the hospital and skilled nursing, and is being cared for by her boyfriend. The expenses of providing in-home care are adding up quickly and she is in need of several items (chucks, throw towels, diapers, baby wipes, etc.). They are also hoping to purchase a van that is wheelchair accessible to transport Nicky to and from her doctor's appointments and just get out of the house. Any support given, whether financial or by purchasing items off of her wishlist, are greatly appreciated by both Nicky and Robbie.

For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Brooke Jared, and I work with Nicky teaching ELA at Landrum Middle School. Nicky is one of the most passionate educators I know, and I am so fortunate to work alongside her.

Recently, Nicky was hospitalized due to a stroke and has been in the hospital for several weeks now, where she is continuing her treatments. Her loving boyfriend, Robbie, has stayed by her side and has supported her through all of the ups and downs. While Nicky does have health insurance, the reality is that insurance alone won’t come close to covering everything during her treatment. As you can imagine, a stay in the hospital that is this extensive is going to be quite costly, and so I have started this GoFundMe to support her and Robbie financially through this difficult time. We want energy to be focused on Nicky getting better, not the stress of hospital bills.
