I am making this GoFundMe to raise money for my cat Nicks’ medical care. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love this cat. I adopted him as a kitten in 2021 and he’s been by my side ever since, being the sweetest companion while I’ve navigated the stress of graduate school and my own medical challenges. He means everything to me and is the best kitty I could ever ask for <3

In the last 72 hours, Nicks became extremely sick and unable to keep down food or drink water. I took him to emergency care where they temporarily hospitalized and stabilized him and were able run diagnostic tests. At this time, it is suspected that he has a bowel obstruction though it is unclear whether it is due to a foreign object or related to another systemic issue. The doctors said that an exploratory surgery will need to be conducted in order to treat his condition.

I love this cat more than anything and the costs of care are well outside of my means as a low income first gen doctoral student who navigates my own chronic medical issues. I want to give Nicks the best chance that I can to get through this and so I am trying to gather any resources possible in the hopes that he may be able to receive care. I am making this GoFundMe hoping that anyone who has the means to do so may be willing to donate. Every little bit helps.

UPDATE ON COST: We met the goal of $3500 to cover the cost of the surgery additonal other funds will be used to cover the additional $3500 worth of diagnostic tests, hospitalization, and medications that were administered (Total cost of $7000). I am so overwhelmed by the support and so grateful for everyone’s help ❤️❤️❤️
