As some of you may already know, my brother Nick is suffering from kidney failure. At his last appointment, his kidneys were functioning at 10% and still declining. He has now been equipped with a dialysis port, but that is a temporary fix until he is able to receive a donor kidney.

It is an unexpected circumstance and caught our family off guard. The costly insurance and his inability to work have depleted their savings, and they are having trouble making ends meet. We Simerlys are a proud people, and the last thing we want to do is ask for a handout. But sometimes you have to swallow that pride and ask for help. That's what we're doing.
