Nicki Shearer is my sister-in-law, and anyone who has ever met her has been blessed by her compassion and honest devotion. As a devoted member of the medical field for decades, Nicki has spent her life serving and healing those who were in need. She has lifted burdens, encouraged strength when it was hard to find, and given life-changing medical care unselfishly and without judgement.

A little over a year ago, following on the heels of losing her father in a tragic accident, Nicki was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. After surgery to remove her first tumor, she was declared free of cancer and put on routine follow-up. The Sunday before this last Christmas, Nicki again found herself in the hospital for emergency surgery, where a new tumor was found. Further testing found cancer cells in that new tumor and surrounding tissue. With a determination to face this head on, Nicki has fought through three rounds of chemo, but has at least three more ahead. She has continued working as much as she feasibly can, but is now at a point where the treatment for cancer is making it impossible to continue her work full-time.

We are looking to ease some of the financial and emotional burdens that such life-changing situations have put on her and her sweet family. When a person has given their life to love, serve, and heal anyone that crossed their path, a desire to return that service is overwhelming for those who have been touched by their care, especially when they are in need. This is the story of my amazing sister-in-law, Nicki.
