On November 15th in Lake County, my 6-year-old cousin Nickai was involved in a devastating wreck that changed his life in an instant. His spine was partially shattered, and he required emergency surgery due to internal bleeding. He is now receiving care at Arnold Palmer in Orlando, facing a long and uncertain recovery with doctors sharing that there is only a 50% chance he may walk again. His parents live in Lakeland and are having to make the drive back and forth every day to be by his side, creating a financial burden on top of already overwhelming emotional and medical stress.

I am raising these funds on behalf of his parents(my cousins), who would never ask for help themselves, but as many of us know, during a time like this, support can make all the difference. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will help with travel costs, medical-related expenses, lost income, and the long recovery journey ahead. The funds raised will go toward expenses related to his recovery, including gas for travel to and from the hospital, loss of wages during this time, medical expenses, and any additional care or support needed as he continues to heal.

With permission from his parents as funds are needed, I will be sending the money directly to his parents.

I established this GoFundMe at the request of my family to support Nickai’s recovery, his parents(travel to Orlando and lost wages) and his journey to walk again.

To date, $2,000 has been disbursed to Nickai’s mother to assist with immediate needs, including lost wages and transportation costs to Orlando.

Our primary priority remains Nickai’s long-term care. To ensure full transparency and the ethical use of your generous donations, the remaining funds are being held specifically for assistive devices and medical necessities as he progresses, at the father’s request. My role is to ensure these contributions are used strictly for Nickai’s rehabilitation and well-being, as outlined in the original campaign goals. (It is fraudulent to use the funds towards anything not outlined in the campaign.)

I will not let personal disagreements between the parents interfere with Nickai’s future.

As the organizer, I am legally and ethically obligated to ensure donations are used for the specific purposes stated in the fundraiser.

I was asked by family to create this go fund me for nickai, and his parents. At this point, I honestly do not want to be involved, I didn’t know parents butt heads when creating this.

And I want to be incredibly clear: this tragedy is not an opportunity for profit. The sole purpose of this fundraiser is to provide Nickai with the resources he needs to heal and reclaim his mobility. It is heartbreaking enough to navigate the aftermath of such an accident; it should never be used as a means for personal financial gain by anyone involved.
