Nick Valentino is an uber-dedicated family man to his wife and 3 young kids, a steadfast friend, and an incredibly strong cyclist/racing teammate.

This past Saturday on 5/3 (with his family present), exiting the final corner of a criterium race, another rider unexpectedly slid out on Nick's inside and Nick was unfortunately swept face-down into the curb. It was a very bloody and traumatic crash. Nick was taken away in an ambulance and then airlifted to a hospital in Baltimore to evaluate and treat his injuries. He sustained multiple deep lacerations and fractures to his face, shattered his shoulder, and fractured a vertebra. Thankfully, he does not have any serious brain injury.

He already received stitches on his face and underwent surgery on his shoulder and will still need a surgery on his face. The road to full recovery seems to be a long one.
