Support Nick Glover's Study Abroad in Sydney, Australia

Hello! My name is Robert Nicholas Glover, and I am a rising senior and journalism and mass communications student at North Carolina A&T State University. My program concentration is mass media production. This upcoming school year is my senior undergrad year, and I have an amazing opportunity to be able to take my studies abroad this fall. Under the AIFS Abroad program, I will be attending the University of Sydney in Sydney, Australia, from August to November 2025. This will be my second time studying abroad and leaving the country since studying in Italy with Craven Community College in 2023.

I met some Australians during my time in Italy, and they were very informed on American culture and U.S. engagements. I was not able to engage with them on the same level regarding their own politics due to most of our education systems staying centric to our own happenings and policies. I want to expand beyond my current world understandings and grow closer to global citizen status.

In my post-college career, I aspire to work in entertainment production within TV and Film. Many people I admire have shot their projects in Sydney and I want to pull inspiration from the sights and art of Sydney. Aaliyah's "Queen of the Damned" movie was shot throughout Australia. Beyonce filmed the music video for her song "No Angel" in Melbourne, Australia. "Finding Nemo" was a movie not animated in Australia, however, it was heavily inspired by the coral reef and aquatic ecosystem of Australia.

While studying in Australia, I have an internship lined up with Polite Playground Australia. Their company specializes in advancing interactive technology for creative content and sponsoring events for corporations.

Last summer, I interned at my local news station, granting me an entry level shadowing for journalist work. I assisted them by writing scripts for news packages, providing their digital research team with a database that helped with their food truck segment, and produced two newscasts for their 12 pm news show.

Earlier this year I interned with Fulmore Films on the set of one of their new projects slated to release within the next year on Lifetime.

I currently serve as a student ambassador under the NCAT Office of Intercultural Engagement where I help facilitate cultural programs.

One of my biggest goals is to expand my network and skillset for both film and production but also getting to promote autism awareness in a new country.

I have been awarded the Russel R. Taylor Foundation Scholarship and have been working at TJMaxx this summer to fund this upcoming semester abroad. The Taylor foundation scholarship covers a large majority; however, I need additional assistance to fund my semester abroad.

Thank you for believing in me and supporting my future. Every donation adds up and brings me closer to fulfilling this dream. I can’t do this without you.

With gratitude,
Nick Glover
