Hello,

My name is Jaclyn and we are raising funds for our dear friend Nick Gifford and his family. We are hoping to ease the burden of medical expenses, travel, and cost of living. Here is a small backstory of what Nick and his family have been dealing with silently for months.

"In April of 2024, Nick was diagnosed with Embryonal Carcinoma. This is a rare form of cancer making up about 3% of all testicular cancers. It's considered very aggressive due to its rapid growth and tendency to spread quickly. About 3 months after Nick's first surgery, his scan came back showing metastasis to the lymph nodes in the abdomen/back, chest, and neck regions, requiring a full 4 rounds of chemotherapy as soon as possible, which has taken him out of work suddenly. After completing chemo on November 8, 2024, Nick underwent a follow-up CT scan showing residual masses in the abdomen/back and pelvic areas that have not resolved with treatment. Therefore, a surgical consult is underway to determine if a major procedure called 'Retroperitoneal lymph node dissection' is necessary. Nick’s case is currently being brought to the tumor board at City of Hope hospital to discuss the next steps of treatment with multiple professionals. Because of how invasive this surgery is and due to the abnormal spread that is occurring, the tumor board will help determine if this surgery is the best option and if so, will they be removing the pelvic lymph nodes with the retroperitoneal lymph nodes.

During this time, Nick’s first son, Malakai, was born. Nick, his wife, and their newborn have been living in SoCal away from family and friends but receiving love from afar. However, Nick is still unable to work while he is recovering from treatment and preparing for the next steps of healing. His wife is currently on maternity leave to care for their new baby and is unable to cover all the living expenses with a single income."

Nick will remain down in Southern California until the medical team comes up with his treatment plan. Updates will be made throughout his journey. We will remain faithful and rally behind Nick, Daniell, and baby Malakai in their time of need.
