I'm certain this statement exists over a million times here on GoFundMe...
This is the most difficult thing I've had to do, ask for help.
Not only ask for help, but ask for help with my small business, a dream I've had for over 12 years, that has grown and evolved into something as equally part of the community it serves as it is a service provided.
The unfortunate truth, however, is that the economy we exist in has steadily declined in the overall want of what we do, while everything from rent to utility bills has steadily increased, with only our sales as the prime source of revenue in which to pay this, along with our employees, while also trying to keep a steady flow of inventory within our walls.
It has become overwhelming, making me have to stare into the possibility of having to close our doors as an outcome.
One I truly don't want. Not for me, not for my employees, not for the many within our community we serve, and serve with a passion and a knowledge for our largely historical and cherished items.
We encompass over 45 years of video game history. We cover it all. In that, we wear our shared nostalgia with our customers on our sleeves.
While I am doing everything within my power outside of this to make funds to rectify this situation, I fear it won't be enough.
So here I am, asking you for help, to help save something that is both important to me as well as the community in which it serves.
Yes, we sell video games and video game consoles. We also sell items created by local artists that tie in so well to our store.
We also sell an experience within our RetroVerse Lounge, a place to experience what you did as a child with arcade cabinets, consoles, and board games.
What I'm looking to raise is for everything immediately necessary in our store, catching up on bills and necessary operational expenses to keep the store running, and yes, some help in filling our shelves, but mostly for the former.
I also know that we are currently living in a world that is pinching everyone's pennies, so I just want you to know, reading this, how aware I am of how difficult this may be for many.
Please, if nothing else, share this, move it along so we can get back to what we do best, and that's serve our community with services you can't find everywhere.
Nick D's Video Game Vault is where big kids go to remember, and I pray, with your help, we can continue being that place.
