Nick & Kristen Rebuild Lake Lure’s Broad River Inn

Donation protected
Four years ago, some of my closest friends insisted that we always promise to make plans and never actually did. Life and all its chaos would inevitably get in the way and take us off track. We vowed to stop the cycle and committed to a random weekend in January, after the hubbub of the holidays slowed down.

We all loved Lake Lure and Chimney Rock and agreed to gather at the historic Broad River Inn for the weekend where we were introduced to the world’s most amazing and gracious innkeepers, Nick and Kristen Sottile.

We had the time of our lives just playing miniature golf, ribbing one another, talking about the past year’s ups and downs. We finally were able to take the time to breathe, to enjoy the fellowship and friendship, and to take in the beautiful surroundings of this painstakingly restored inn and the serenity of the river beside it.

We vowed to return every year, and it’s become a tradition we all look forward to. Nick and Kristen have basically become part of our group and we have extended our silly antics and laughter to include them

Y’all… it’s time to extend the same hospitality extended to us. Nick and Kristen gave up the rat race and the stability of the corporate world to take a chance on a small town and rickety old building. They’ve filled it with memories while making Chimney Rock home. They’re hurting right now. Everything they’ve worked toward has been devastated in Helene’s aftermath. The community is washed away and there will be a long painful road ahead. The structural integrity is severely damaged and the foundation is either cracked or missing along the entire back of the Inn. The land for the treasured mini golf that actually supports the inn is washed away so rebuilding is going to be difficult, but not impossible. (Let’s make that happen!!!!)

In the meantime their livelihood has come to a screeching halt. We need to come together as an extended community and do what we can to save this treasure to the best we can or at least help provide the resources to allow them to recenter their world and dream up Broad River Inn’s next chapter with the same imagination that brought them to our circle in the first place.

”Come hell or high water” their spirit will rise higher than that water ever did.

We ask that you open your hearts to help Nick and Kristen weather the short term, help keep their expenses paid while they figure this out, and to help them enlist the help of engineering experts to help assess what’s possible.

See you all at the grand re-opening!!!!!
