My name is Kara and I live in Seattle, WA. Hannah and Nick are dear friends of mine. Hannah and I were in the Peace Corps together from 2009-2011 and have remained very close friends for over a decade. Yesterday, I learned of the devastating loss of their beautiful home to the Boulder fires.

 

Wind gusts of up to 115mph combined with downed power lines fueled out of control grass fires which claimed hundreds, possibly thousands of homes in the Louisville/Superior area. After evacuating to a hotel with Hannah's mother and their four rescue animals, Nick and Hannah followed the news and Twitter as the fires spread across neighborhoods and into their own.

 

Nick and Hannah's Superior, CO home- assumed at this point to be a total loss.

 

I started this GoFundMe because I love Hannah and Nick, and knew their community of friends and family would need a way to show them that we are here and have their back as they process, grieve, and plan. Nothing can replace the intangible loss of old family photos, journals, heirlooms and the personal comforts of home- but we can send them a message that we love them and they are not in this alone.
