Celebrating Nicholas With a Gift of Support On June 27th, Nicholas had just finished work and was headed to the beach for an afternoon of fishing—one of his favorite ways to relax and recharge. On the drive there, he experienced a sudden medical emergency that caused him to lose control of his vehicle. The car veered into the median, collided with a tree, and immediately caught fire. By a true act of grace, two heroic strangers—an Army Veteran and an off-duty Police Officer—witnessed the crash, ran toward the flames, and pulled Nicholas to safety. Emergency crews arrived quickly, and Nicholas woke up in the ambulance—alive, and still the strong, spirited person we all know and love. Nicholas is currently in the hospital and recovering from burns to his legs, left hand, and neck. And in true Nicholas fashion, he’s doing so with strength, grace, and his signature sense of humor still shining through. For those who know him, none of this comes as a surprise. Nicholas is one of the kindest, most genuine people you could ever meet. He has a way of making everyone feel seen, loved, and valued—whether it's a Sunday morning at church or a sunny afternoon on the disc golf course, fishing dock, or hiking trail. His joy is contagious, his heart is enormous, and he's always selfless in the way he gives. This GoFundMe isn’t about asking for help—this is about showing up for someone who always shows up for others. It’s a chance for us, as his friends, family, and community, to come together and celebrate Nicholas with a heartfelt gift of appreciation and support. While the accident did result in the loss of his car and some personal belongings, our goal is simply to lift some of the weight off his shoulders as he heals.
