Support Niall’s Recovery

I’m reaching out to you for Niall Kilkenny, a wife to Ann Marie, a loving dad to 2 gorgeous girls Shauna & Sarah, a cherished son, a brother and a dear friend to many. Nialls life took a sudden and unimaginable turn on the 22nd of November 2024, whilst doing what he loved - farming. He went out to work that day unaware that a catastrophic haemorrhage/ stroke would change everything for him and their family. That day, Niall went from being a full-time working dad to two girls, devoted to caring for his home and family, to living with a significant lifelong disability. Nialls farm is no longer the farm it once was as stock had to be sold to help with family expenses all while Niall is been cared for in hospital. This is soul destroying for Niall as from a very young age, he has been a hard working man. As many would say Niall lived and breathed farming and took great pride in it too.

Niall has fought bravely for his life, and that’s thanks to his incredible strength, However, the journey ahead is far from easy. He now faces permanent disabilities that challenge him every day. He has spent the last 14 long weeks in the University hospital Galway and more recently in Merlin Park for rehabilitation. He is now allowed to spend time at home at the weekends but this poses significant challenges for Ann Marie that prevent him from being able to be safe and comfortable in his own home.

Nialls resilience is inspiring, but to truly thrive, adaptions need to be made to their home so he can be safe, comfortable and return to tucking his little girls into bed at night. He is awaiting admission to the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Dun Laoighre for specialised care and intense rehab and in the meantime, we want to ensure his home is ready for his return. Unfortunately, the necessary modifications to the home will be costly along with a new car adapted for Nialls needs in the hope, he will one day be able to return to driving again.

This fundraising effort is aimed at helping Nialls family adapt their home, creating a supportive, safe environment where he can focus on his recovery along with helping to ease the financial strain for Ann Marie and his girls while they are on this heartbreaking journey.
