Support Newman Family in Time of Need
Donation protected
First of all, thank you for taking the time to hear our story and consider giving towards our family’s needs.
As some of you may know, my wife Tara has been battling with what doctors are calling “long COVID” for over a year now. While we have spent countless hours, and all our savings on every medical test known to man, we have yet to get real answers as to what is causing her pain/symptoms. For those of you that aren’t aware, the symptoms she is currently experiencing are:
• abdominal adhesions
• constant dizziness (vertigo)
• cognitive impairment
• regular tension headaches
• chest and back pain (strained spinal ligaments)
• reduced lung capacity
• low blood oxygen levels
• chronic fatigue
• occasional body limb numbness
Even with all these symptoms, every test result states, while she is not in a normal state of health, according to the doctors, she does not require treatment from any of the specialists thus far. This last sentence pretty much sums up our lives for the last 12 months and now has us both in a state of exhaustion, frustration and an overall feeling of defeat.
We also recently discovered that we have mold in our house caused by several structural defects that need to be addressed. These may be a leading contributor in Tara’s current state of health. One of the larger issues is that we may have water damage in our exterior walls which would require residing the entire house.
Tara is also being tested for a possible auto-immune disorder with a Rheumatologist soon, but there’s a very good chance that there are multiple things at play here. We’ve spent thousands on medical expenses over the past year. We have a long list of medical bills that are stacking up and are only going to increase as Tara was just accepted into the Long COVID clinic at OHSU and will have her first appointment in mid-March. The plan is to have her assessed during her intake and then begin a treatment plan that may last for months or even years depending on the severity of her situation.
To add insult to injury, I recently tore my MCL which of course will make it hard for me to complete most of the home repairs, and will most likely mean surgery for me as well.
To be completely honest, she and I are having a very hard time asking for help but at the end of the day we need to humble ourselves and make our situation known to those around us that are willing and able to help. It is a very challenging time but we have found that our faith in God continues to grow as He continues to provide for not only our practical needs but our mental and emotional needs as well.
Our family has been through a lot this past year but we are ready to move forward in faith and health. So, any donation, no matter how large or small, is very much appreciated. Again, thank you for your consideration.
