SpotOn.Pet and Stable Insurance are teaming up to help support New York City rideshare drivers. These drivers have seen a significant decrease in demand for their service, but are still responsible for making payments to keep their cars active. Rideshare expenses in NYC are higher than in other parts of the country. For instance, insurance is typically 3-5x more expensive for NYC drivers. On top of this, these drivers are necessary to provide transport for essential medical staff and other service professionals. The Governor of New York has determined rideshare (for-hire transportation) services to be an “Essential Business ” necessary while New York is “on-pause.” To do this work, drivers put themselves and their families at risk of contracting Covid-19.
SpotOn.pet, a New York City-based rideshare company, is concentrating on providing transportation to essential workers during this time of need and offering work to these drivers. SpotOn.pet is offering 100% of the fares they collect to all of its drivers until further notice.
Jointly, we are accepting applications from drivers and will use these funds to help them at least cover their major outgoings (insurance, etc.). Our goal is to raise a minimum of $30,000. If we achieve this goal, we can provide stipends to approximately 100 rideshare drivers. If we exceed this goal, we will use those funds to cover additional drivers that apply.
Additional Details:
100% of funds contributed will go towards relief efforts for these rideshare drivers; we will not deduct additional overhead or administrative fees.
Donors are unable to claim donations to this GoFundMe campaign as a tax write off. For transparency purposes, we will provide bank records, and receipts of distributed funds on request after the campaign has closed. However, all personal identifying information of applicants will be kept confidential. We have included a respected NYC transportation industry attorney, Steven J. Shanker, Esq., as a team member, and he will be conducting an informal audit for us after the campaign ends.
