As a bass clarinet enthusiast, I've been disappointed in the repertoire options for younger students. Most options are pieces that were not written for the instrument. I've felt a need for new repertoire, by living composers, that is written specifically for the instrument.

That's why I'm composing "Solos for the Developing Low Clarinetist," which will contain 10 new compositions that can be used for both Eb (alto/contra-alto) and Bb (bass/contrabass) instruments. The solo part will be able to used for any low clarinet, with two different piano accompaniments included to use whether the student is playing and Eb instrument or a Bb instrument.

Topics such as articulation, finger technique, upper register tone, and musicality will be addressed with these compositions.
