Writer & Co-Director, Anna Lee DeSaulniers
Anna Lee DeSaulniers was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Initially in front of the camera as a dancer, model, and actor, this will be her first time writing and directing a narrative film. She was deeply inspired by her New Mexican heritage and the strength of her female family members and friends when writing BLEED.
As a teenager, Anna Lee took up a love for filmmaking, winning a local student award for a documentary on "Descanos" (roadside crosses to commemorate loved ones lost). In college, she made several short documentaries on local hip-hop artists. While traveling internationally as a model, she created video diaries about her and her roommate's lives. Her films explore feminism and other social justice issues. In addition to being an actor, she is also a local New Mexican activist who fights for women's rights and housing rights, among other issues.
Writer's Statement: It's time for Chicanas and other under-represented groups to be in the writer's seat. BLEED is an opportunity for me to write about women who inspire me with all their complexities.
While we are making progress, women and Hispanic/Chicane/Latines people are still being written as stereotypes or as if our culture is our entire personality. I know because as an actor I receive the breakdowns. I do not want to be the "hot girl in the car" anymore. I want to see the women like the ones I love on the screen.
Co-Director, Daniel Pattison
Daniel Pattison, a native of New Mexico, embarked on his artistic journey in the vibrant film scene of Albuquerque during his early 20s. Initially drawn to acting, Daniel secured notable roles in major projects that contributed to the burgeoning local film market. However, his creative spirit yearned for more, leading him to explore the realms of writing and directing.
Driven by a passion for storytelling, Daniel found himself collaborating with some of New Mexico's most talented independent filmmakers. Together, they strive to create compelling content that resonates with audiences, emphasizing impactful and relatable narratives. As Daniel Pattison continues to evolve as a multifaceted artist, he remains dedicated to shaping and sharing stories that leave a lasting impression.
Cinematographer, Rebecca Durán
Rebecca Durán is an Albuquerque/Los Angeles-based filmmaker from Ciudad Juárez, Mexico. After receiving her B.F.A. in Film+Television from New York University - Tisch, Rebecca relocated to New Mexico to begin a career in filmmaking.
She is an IATSE Local 600 member and has worked on many productions as a Cinematographer, Camera Operator, and FAA-licensed UAS pilot. With a focus on compelling narratives and calculated imagery, Rebecca's recent work includes the feature film "Pan American," Can-Am's "Women of On-Road" campaign, and the acclaimed music video "Adult Children Part II."
