Hi,
Michael Hancock in Colorado, Joseph Kerwin in California, and John Shanahan in Colorado are the fundraising team.
The DCD and DEA were founded by Joseph Samoura. He was born in neighboring Sierra Leone and was orphaned as a young boy when rebel soldiers killed his family. He grew up homeless on the streets of Guinea and turned to helping other homeless children in Guinea as a young adult. He received the ONG license (non-profit certificate in French) in 2014.
The owner of the DCD and DEA property died and the heirs want to sell it and divide up the proceeds. The orphanage and school have to move. They continue to rent the old facility until they can build new facilities. The purpose of this GoFundMe campaign is to raise $300,000 USD by December, 2029 for buildings, infrastructure and initial equipment for 100 homeless children and 200 grade school students (homeless orphans and poor families in the neighborhood). This includes a regular kitchen instead of cooking on wood fires on the floor, reliable electricity, water and waste water services, Internet, smartphones, uniforms, sports equipment, school bus, staff vehicle, minimum requirements for buildings and equipment for a modern school.
In addition, this project aims to raise $100,000 each school year starting in September, 2026 for operating expenses, food, and staff salaries.
Joseph Samoura, the Founder and Director, his Board of Directors, teachers, and staff have done outstanding with minimum funding since 2014.
They need a permanent orphanage and school and salaries worth their valiant work for this noble cause.
