Hi everyone! I'm writing this on the behalf of the Outdoors Club at New Haven Academy, a public magnet high school in New Haven, CT. The clubs annual ski trip has been running for almost 12 years and is a highlight of the year for a handful of our students. Something that makes this trip especially helpful every year is the help from you, our community, to make the trip affordable for all our students.
I carry on this yearly responsibility that has previously been executed by Nate Spearman, Skylar Takacs, and Ayo Engel-Halfkenny while they were Presidents of the club. I strive to reach their success in making this years trip accessible and positive for as many students as possible.
Last year we had a wonderful day at Mount Southington Ski Resort with 20 attendees; a lot of them being first-time ski/snowboarders. The mountain has provided the perfect environment for our group to learn and have fun. It is where we will be returning this year.
It is important to us that everyone interested in the trip is able to attend, and it is even more important that these interests aren't turned down because of expenses. Our goal is to make the trip accessible for everyone, easing the financial burden and making sure students of all financial backgrounds can attend and enjoy a great trip.
This year we hope to bring more than the 20 students we brought last year! With your help, we will be able to reduce the price per attendee or ideally make it free of expense for most/all.
Our fundraising goal is $3,500 for this year's ski trip. Leftover capital will be used for our camping trip and left for future leaders of the Outdoors Club.
I write this request with just about a month to spare, we are aiming for our trip to be on February 14th. Donations of any amount are encouraged and appreciated from all! Thank you everyone for helping make this possible!
Sincerely,
