Aaron Needs Us Again – Help Save Our Miracle Dog

Five years ago, Aaron was a broken stray clinging to life. Thanks to your generosity and New Beginnings for Merced County Animals, he defied the odds. Two amputated legs couldn't stop him – Aaron bounced back with the spirit of a champion and found a furever home in April 2021. Even so, he's still a New Beginnings dog, showing up as a spokesdog at events when possible and showing people first-hand the impact of their contributions to the rescue.

This weekend, our fighter is fighting again.

Aaron collapsed and landed in emergency care, unable to eat, unable to even lift his head. After days of testing, we finally have answers – and they're heartbreaking. His intestines have dropped into his pelvis, likely from the same traumatic injury that shattered his legs years ago. For five years, his body quietly struggled. Now, malnutrition from his malfunctioning intestines has pushed him into crisis.

Aaron needs surgery. Without it, we'll lose him.

The house where he lives is unbearably quiet without his presence. His best friend Scarlet (a blind pig) and his buddy Chuck (a fellow amputee) are waiting for him to come home. As his rescue family, we are all devastated.

But Aaron is a fighter. And New Beginnings is fighting alongside him once again.

He was worth saving in 2020. He's worth saving today.
