Yesterday afternoon (8/20), our lives changed in an instant. My best friend Nevaeh and her almost 5-month-old baby were in a horrific car accident when someone ran a stop sign directly in front of them. She had no time to react and T-boned the other car.

In the vehicle with her were a close friend and her friend’s 1-month-old baby. By nothing short of a miracle, there were no fatalities—but the injuries are heartbreaking.

Nevaeh has a broken ankle (that will require surgery), two fractured ribs, and deep cuts and bruises all over her body. She will be in the hospital for at least a week as she begins the long road of recovery.

Her baby, miraculously, only has a small bruise on her cheek.

Nevaeh’s friend is fighting with both of her lungs partially collapsed.

And her friend’s tiny 1-month-old baby has suffered a skull fracture.

It’s a nightmare no family should ever have to live through.

Just this past Monday, Nevaeh, her boyfriend, my fiancé, and I all moved into a new place together—full of excitement and hope for this next chapter of our lives. None of us could have imagined that our very first week would bring something so devastating.
