Support Neurodivergent & Women-Led Sci-Fi Audio Drama

Beneath The Cosmic Waves Synopsis:

Running from her grief, 26-year-old Sloane moves to a seaside retirement community where all encounters point her toward the library, and it doesn’t take much reading between the lines for her to realize something very sinister is going on below the surface. With the help of her unusual neighbor Darcy, the only other young person in town, Sloane stumbles upon the adventure of a lifetime. Sincere, campy, and raw, this thrilling, women-led sci-fi drama is a story about finding friendship and connection in an increasingly technology-dependent world, all set against the backdrop of cults, libraries, the ocean, and aliens.

About the Author:

I am autistic and although I’m good at masking, I’ve always found it difficult to develop friendships. Storytelling and story enjoying has been my guiding light to finding community and connection with others. At its heart, this audio drama is about lonely people finding their community- finding a family. I’ve poured a lot of my insecurities, awkwardness, and feelings into this show, hopefully in a way that other neurodivergent people can relate to. This story is inspired by a lifetime of watching Doctor Who, the Twilight Zone, and Goosebumps, and the format will be based off of old sci fi radio shows- with immersive soundscapes and weekly cliffhangers. I’ve spent two years writing and planning out this project. It would mean everything to finally be able to share this story with the world!

About the Project:

My goal is to be able to pay all the people involved in this podcast. I’ve done many creative projects for free, and I know how amazing it would be to have been compensated for my time. I’ve just gone back to college, so unfortunately, I don’t have any extra money to spare right now. I’ve drawn some artwork, I have all the equipment I need, and I’ll be directing and scoring the show, so the only thing left to do is pay the other people involved.

I tried to break down the financials into a silly song, but here’s a recap. Ideally, I’d like to pay each of the four lead actors $100 for each of the seven episodes ($700 per person). Then the four smaller parts would each get a total payment of $150. Then I need to pay my audio engineer, the podcast hosting platform, legal fees, and promotional fees (so roughly $3000).

Anything is appreciated, even if that’s just sharing this video!
