For most of time, humans have relied on tight knit communities for survival; and while there are many advantages to modern life, it's not built into our automatic response anymore to ask for help when knocked down, or to offer help without being asked. So we want to change that.
Last week, David felt unwell and took himself to urgent care, where he passed out. Over the next few days his symptoms continued to worsen, and after a week of missed work, multiple days of hospitalization, and a lot of testing, the doctors narrowed his symptoms down to "probable meningitis causing inflammation of a fractured c5 vertebrae".
His insurance covers most of the big bills, but the "small" costs of a few dozen copays and weeks of missed work are left.
That's where we come in, to use our collective numbers to take what would be a significant burden to shoulder as an individual, and to slice it down into many small pieces.
Let's all pitch in to address this financial loss that would take months to recover from alone, and make it easy.
