Support Nermin Catic and Family During His Fight Against Cancer
My uncle, Nermin Catic, 49 year old father of 2, and my aunt are two of the most hardworking, selfless people I know. They are the kind of people who would never ask for help and would never expect a handout, which is why I am creating this fundraiser on their behalf.
In October 2025, Nermin was diagnosed with cancer in his left lung and underwent surgery to have part of the lung removed. While recovering, he remained hopeful and focused on moving forward. During a follow-up appointment several months later, doctors identified a small 3mm mass in his right lung and reassured him that it was nothing to worry about.
Just weeks later, everything changed.
Nermin is currently hospitalized and preparing for brain surgery on Monday, June 8, after doctors discovered cancer deep within his brain. This devastating news has come only months after his lung cancer surgery and recovery.
The emotional toll on our family has been overwhelming, but the financial burden is equally daunting. The brain surgery alone is expected to cost more than $500,000, and although insurance may help cover some expenses, Nermin and his family will still be responsible for a significant portion of the costs. This is on top of the medical bills and expenses already accumulated from his lung cancer treatment and surgery.
Nermin and his family came to the United States from Bosnia and Herzegovina in the late 1990s after fleeing a country devastated by war and genocide. Like so many immigrants seeking a better life, they arrived with hope, determination, and a willingness to work hard. Since then, they have spent decades building a life for their family through honest work, sacrifice, and perseverance. They are truly good people.
During this incredibly difficult time, our goal is simple: to allow Nermin to focus on healing and recovery without the added stress of overwhelming medical debt. No one should have to fight for their life while worrying about how they will pay their bills.
If you are able, please consider making a donation. No amount is too small, and every contribution will help ease the burden on Nermin and his family. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser with friends and family would mean the world to us.
Thank you for your kindness, support, prayers, and generosity during this difficult time.
