Support Nepali Orphans @ the Helpless Children Mother Center

Unmarked on a map, the Helpless Children Mother Center (HCMC) is situated far up the mountains of Nepal in a little town called Salleri. Our family was granted the opportunity to stay for a week in the hostel, which houses 47 bright young orphans and dedicated staff who have run the place for over 25 years.

From 1st through 10th grade, all of the children, some as young as six, wake up daily and thank God together before they eat a humble breakfast of rice and lentil soup. When they independently finish their homework, using tiny pencils and even tinier erasers on their worn-out notebooks, they thank God. They have been through a lot–they lack stable family situations and live below normal standards. Yet, they persevere and remain thankful for everything they have.

The children at HCMC speak Nepali and Hindi, as well as proficient English. Despite having such low support, the older ones are sharp and hard-working. The younger children are similarly eager to learn. Each child is well disciplined, taking good care of each other and the center by braiding each other's hair, sweeping the floors, washing dishes and each other's clothes, and regularly completing many other chores.

Despite their circumstances, the children at HCMC showed us a lot of compassion and kindness. We would love to extend our gratitude towards these deserving children by supporting them and their future.

Your donations will directly support:

- Immunization. We were heartbroken to find that two of the younger children had cases of chickenpox. We learned these cases occur often, as the children lack proper medical treatment since no pediatrician is nearby.

- School stationery/supplies. The children use their supplies until they can't be used any longer. We will provide them with pencils, erasers, books, and pens so they can focus more on their education.

- Daily food. The rest of the money will be used to provide the children with more varied and nutritious meals, to ensure healthy options for them to pack for school and keep them nourished throughout the day.
