According to BBC News, more than 939 people had died as of August 31, 2026, while thousands more remained unaccounted for. The destruction has been overwhelming, wiping out entire municipalities, including the community where Samridhi was born. Families have lost loved ones, homes, livelihoods, and access to basic infrastructure, leaving many in urgent need of help and stability.
