Support Nene's Battle Against Choriocarcinoma

To anyone reading this – thank you for being here and taking a moment out of your busy life to positively impact someone else’s. My name is Chandra, and I am making this GoFundMe for my daughter , Anquanicia Malone (Nene) to support her as she navigates her rare diagnosis of Choriocarcinoma cancer.

September 10, 2023, Nene gave birth to her second daughter Lyric. She was enjoying motherhood, loving on her girls and making plans for the future.

Shortly after giving birth, in early February, Nene started suffering from heavy bleeding. She went to the emergency room and they informed her that she had tumors called Gestational Trophoblastic Disease that needed to be removed ASAP. The ER told her to go to one of the Cancer Clinics in our city. We went to the Clinic only to reach a dead end because she did not have a referral. Our only option was to walk in to her OBGYN and ask for some assistance due to the severity of this issue. They sent us directly over to the ER for surgery (DNC).

About a week later the oncologist who removed the tumor called and informed us that the tumor was cancerous and that she would need to have a partial hysterectomy or began chemotherapy. We were assured the cancer would be removed with the hysterectomy. The hysterectomy was completed March 01, 2024 and we were under the impression that we were on the road to recovery.

Sunday April 07th, 2024 she went to a festival with her friends to celebrate her upcoming 30th birthday. I was there working the festival. I did notice that Nene was acting a little unusual but she said she had a headache. The next morning my 10 year old granddaughter called me and said she was unable to get her mother up to take her to school. I had her to FaceTime me and noticed my daughter had been throwing up as well. I called 911 and headed that way. The paramedics asked what was happening prior to this and I told them she went to a festival and complained of a headache the day before. When we arrived at the ER, they assumed my daughter was intoxicated from the day before and needed to sober up. She doesn’t drink heavily so I didn’t feel this was the case. About 8 hours later after some testing, they informed me that she had a brain bleed and a blood clot on her brain.

Nene was transferred to another hospital because this one did not have availability. After being moved she was transferred to another hospital, where they notified us that she not only had the brain bleed and blood clot but she had cancer cells on her lungs and ovaries. She would need chemotherapy once the brain issue was resolved. Her brain surgery was completed and she was released several days later. The hospital told us to follow up with her Oncologist.

We followed up with her oncologist and began scheduling appointments in preparation for chemotherapy. The first week home she was healing, the second week the doctor’s visits began. By week 3, right before we were to start chemotherapy I was awakened by my granddaughter asking me to come upstairs because her mom needed me. I ran upstairs to see my daughter going through the same thing as before. I called 911 and she was taken to ER. When we arrived to the ER the doctor came out and told me the brain bleed was bigger and much worse than before. They also said they were not sure if she would survive. The surgeon was able to perform emergency brain surgery.

She remained stable during the surgery and made it through. The doctors told us that she suffered significant brain damage. One day post op, I was advised to think about removing all life saving devices because my daughter would never be able to survive without the support of machines and around the clock medical care. I was told she would always be on the ventilator so it sounded to me like they were saying there was no need to keep fighting.

NeNe started showing improvements a few days later and we are praying she continues to beat the odds of things the doctors said would never happen. Also they are trying to wean her off the ventilator. Each day the respiratory therapist come in and allow her to breathe on her own for several hours a day and each day she’s getting stronger.

A specialist from a Cancer clinic came to visit and told us that they would be taking over her care. Another physician made them aware of my daughter’s diagnosis and current condition. We could not be more grateful!! They were ready to start the fight against this monster called cancer!!

Any financial support, prayers and words of encouragementy : greatly appreciated. Given that the costs of radiation, chemotherapy, and concurrent healing modalities are immense, any amount you can give will be much appreciated. These funds will also help her cover living expenses and support for her two daughters while she navigates this difficult time, allowing her to focus on healing. If you cannot give anything, the family asks for positive thoughts and as much love as possible to be given her way!

Thank you all for your kindness and support during this time and for taking a moment to positively impact someone’s life.
