My sister, Angelina Lewis (Neenee), as many people call her, is one of the sweetest souls you could ever come across. She is only 20 years old and still has so much life to live!
She started having problems with her breathing about a year ago. When she went to Mount Graham Regional Medical Center, they told her it was a pulled muscle, gave her an inhaler, and sent her home. About a month ago, it got to the point where she could hardly breathe and was in unbearable pain in her back. When she went back for the second time, they told her she had pneumonia, gave her pain medication, and sent her home once again. A week after that, she couldn’t breathe, and her back was hurting again, but much worse this time!
When she got to the hospital, they said her lung had collapsed and that they were going to fly her out to Tucson, Arizona, where she stayed for a week. In that time, they removed a blood clot and mucus that was blocking her airway. While doing that, they discovered a tumor in one of her lungs and took a piece of it to test. Fourteen days later, we got the heart-shattering results: it was confirmed to be a very rare lung cancer called synovial sarcoma.
The doctor decided to go with a procedure called a lobectomy, where they will be removing the top half of her left lung. He is hoping to remove it without her having to do chemo or radiation, but only the Lord knows what is to come!
She is out of work while all of this is going on and will be traveling a lot back and forth from Safford to Tucson, Arizona. In this time, we are asking for any help we can get! We understand times are hard for everyone, so prayers are more than enough, but any funds will be greatly appreciated.
